Kapabiliteter

Dette med endring av arbeidsmåter gjennom ny teknologi og disses kapabiliteter er interessant og noe det forskes på kontinuerlig, kanskje med hovedtyngden rundt University of Boston, Harvard og MIT – som alle befinner seg i Boston. Her har også NTNU et nært samarbeid, i og med at man gjerne prøver ut ideene det forskes på i norsk næringsliv i samspill med NTNU. Men hva er en kapabilitet? Vel, her er en definisjon hentet fra det omtalte akademiske miljøet:

By a capability we mean the combined capacity and ability to plan and execute in accordance with our business objectives through a designed combination of human skills, work processes, organizational change and technology*)
A Capability is a performance improvement methodology that is value driven, measurable and action oriented.To have the ‘Capability’ to improve business value all these four key elements must be in place:

  • Process–What is the core value process and underlying processes that is to be improved and updated
  • Technology–What technologies are needed to improve the process
  • People/Resource–What skills, competencies and behaviours are needed to execute the process and use the supporting technologies
  • Organization/Governance–What organizational structures, incentives and relationships are needed to execute the process
